And so we all received an invite on FB to Andy's birthday bash at Wala wala and as he had proudly proclaimed closer to the weekend, that he WAS expecting a huge turnout and we should all start streaming in at 7.30pm as he was hugely popular. And the turnout was amazing and we could have filled up the whole bar upstairs with the amount of coming, staying and going. The fashionably late amongst us started streaming in at about 9pm, lol!
It was indeed nice to return to a familiar bar and to my surprise, the waiters still recognised me and their warm smiles, waves of hellos made me feel welcomed! The company was, needless to say, awesome and made the rare party night during the weekends fantastic! Of course, being such a popular man, Andy had a steady stream of the prettiest (dare I say, seldom had Wala seen such a dressed up bevy of girls) clamouring to take photos with him. As he famously muttered... "to all the girls I loved before" during one of the photo shoots and we attributed that to the goodness of his soju (neat from the bottle). The band, despite the absence of Shirlyn, was decent and had many of us bopping along to the familiar hits. The only grouse we had was that the air-conditioning could be better!
Of course, what made the evening more enjoyable was to bump into Nate before he flew back to London on Monday. I was a bit flustered as I had to make lame goodbyes to see my other friends at the other side of town and took me a good 5 minute to reconcile Nate's face as I was making my way out from the downstairs bar! But am very glad to know he will be back in 2 months' time for an internship before flying back to London to continue with his job at the bank. Can't wait to catch up with him then!
