letter to Iron Pants

Iron Pants was someone I dated briefly with a nightmarish end to the relationship. We didn't speak nor see each other for close to a year until last year, just before X'mas, we met up for the evening. It was awkward to be alone again but there was effort from him and myself to mend the broken ties.

We spoke about the girl he was dating until they broke up, but apparently are still somewhat together. I suppose he did want to marry her but she wasn't sure or they both weren't sure, etc. Anyways, details were rather vague and I didn't wish to probe endlessly. But, if I could be honestly vocal about it... this is what I would say....

To my friend, Iron Pants,

She is not worth your time if after breaking up, she is still keeping you by her side, NOT because she still loves you dearly to marry you but rather she is selfishly insecure to want to keep you with her still.

A sign of her insecurity is having to call to interrupt us during the evening. She had to hear your reassurances that she was still important to you still. For fark sake, your life does not revolve around her since you have now broken up with her. And your life in this country does not end because you may not marry her eventually. Be a man and live your life for yourself, if you feel that you have better opportunities outside this country, then leave and start a new chapter of your life.

I would tell you this too, women like her are selfish. She is keeping you simply because it is convenient and safe. Frankly, it is an empty shell of a relationship. You are damn farkingly deluded to believe that is love or persist in your attempt to continue loving her, pleasing and making time for her.

You are almost 40, please take stock of your life and ask yourself if this is the life for you. If its a shite load you can do without, then for fark sake, set your life right and yourself free. If today was the last 24 hours of your life, do you really want to have left the world in such misery and unhappiness?

Sure, you can proclaim to the world you are the happiest man in the world but stop deluding yourself. A woman who truly loves you will love and make time for you, talk, laugh, be honest in the relationship for you need the affection, consideration and time alone with her.

All the best to you, I hope you do what is right. FIX YOUR DAMN LIFE and stop being an useless wimp. May 2009 be a good year for you, Iron Pants!

sincerely,
Ophelia
